Japan Technology Group to Start Brokering for Honeywell International’s Technology Licensing in Japan

Tokyo, February 1, 2010- Honeywell International (Morris Township, N.J.) has launched a technology licensing business in Japan in February with Japan Technology Group (“JTG”) as its primary broker.

With 30 research and development facilities worldwide and 17,000 researchers under its payroll, Honeywell maintains a vast portfolio of technologies in fields ranging from aerospace, electronics and automotive. Honeywell launched its full-scale activity in Japan with a technology conference on February 2nd in which it introduced 12 groups of patents in the field of advanced battery technology used in hybrid vehicles (HVs) and solar panels. Honeywell’s licensing portfolio also included the surface treatment technology, “E Shield,” used in electronic parts. Aside from licensing its technologies, Honeywell also hopes to offer support to licensees in productization and development of the various technologies. As this is their first business launch in Japan, the company maintains a wait and sees attitude as it hopes to establish over time what needs emerge among Japanese companies.

Sales business in Japan will be charged by the Tokyo Office of Japan Technology Group (JTG) (headquartered in Philadelphia, PA) in conjunction with Honeywell Intellectual Property International (HIPI), (Phoenix, AZ), a commercialization promotion division of Honeywell International. “In light of today’s increasingly technology-oriented corporate climate, we hope to work closely with Honeywell’s global R&D team to provide Japanese companies with cutting-edge technologies that best fits their needs. Our purpose is to supply companies with a wellspring of business development opportunities in order to keep them competitive in this global economy,” said Hawkins Cui, Asia-Pacific Regional Director of Licensing, Honeywell International. This latest activity in Japan is part of HIPI and Honeywell International’s intellectual property utilization project in Asia.
