largest technology transfer event in japan
Japan Technology Group
(JTG) is proud to announce that it will be the first and
the only U.S.-based technology licensing company
exhibiting at the Technology Licensing Fair 2004 in
Japan. JTG will showcase both biotech and life science
needs and seeds information on behalf of North American
research universities, university spinouts as well as
corporations seeking to access innovative technologies
in Japan.
Japan Technology Group was formed in
the fall of 2003 as an agent for non-Japanese companies
who seek to transfer Japanese innovative technology into
the U.S. market, as well as for non-Japanese
universities and spinouts seeking Japanese corporations
interested in licensing untapped innovations.
This year, the showcase will be held
in eight major cities throughout Japan, beginning
September 29 in Tokyo and ending December 1 in
Hiroshima. More than 195,000 people attended the
showcase last year, which was held in nine cities in
Japan, and more than 670 companies exhibited their
technology seeds as well as needs.
The Technology Licensing Fair,
originally called Tokkyo Ryutsu Fair in Japanese, was
first held in 1997 to provide marketplace for patent
owners and potential technology buyers, specifically for
corporations, academic and research institutions,
ventures and technology consultants. It has become one
of the largest trade shows in Japan promoting technology
transfer between business cultures and research
universities.
Universities and spinouts interested
in presenting their untapped innovations to Japanese
bio-life corporations attending the Fair, are encouraged
to forward seeds information to JTG, whose contact
information is provided below.
Similarly, non-Japanese companies
interested in Japanese technologies available from
universities and spinouts in Japan, may send their needs
information to JTG, which will help search untapped
promising innovations developed by Japanese
universities, research institutions as well as venture
companies. To efficiently collect a company's needs and
distribute them to appropriate individuals within
Japanese universities, independent research centers and
venture-backed biotech companies, JTG has built an
easy-to-use Web-based tool where a needs provider such
as a large pharmaceutical company can send and receive
important information. Those wishing to post their
needs on JTG's Seeds/Needs exchange system, please click
here.
Signing up is simple and free.
Lastly, JTG and its affiliate, Omori &
Yaguchi -- a Tokyo-based intellectual property law firm
-- assist companies and universities worldwide acquire
and protect patents in Japan. Organizations which
currently have an international patent application, and
are interested in entering into the Japanese national
phase, would do well to choose Omori & Yaguchi as a
representative of their cases.
