JTG visits JAPAN'S Academic and
research institutions on behalf of ONE OF the US-based
largest pharmaceutical companies
Taro
Yaguchi, President of the Japan Technology Group in
Philadelphia, will travel to Japan to visit more than 40
technology transfer offices as well as venture and
university spinout companies on behalf of one of the
largest pharmaceutical companies in the United States,
whose representative is visiting Japan with Yaguchi as
well.
Japan Technology Group (JTG) — which was formed in the
fall of 2003 as an agent for
U.S. companies who seek to
transfer innovative technology seeds developed by
Japanese universities into the U.S. market — seeks to
introduce to the US-based global pharmaceutical firm
various untapped and promising Japanese innovations.
This weeklong visit,
beginning on Monday, May 24, became possible based on
mutual interests between JTG and the leading pharma
company which has been seeking ways to reach innovative
technologies in
Japan. It said that it was
difficult for a non-Japanese firm to simply obtain a
list of technologies from academic and research
institutions in Japan because everything was in the
Japanese language.
JTG has taken full
advantage of its access to a wide pool of technology
sources in
Japan, including government, academic and private
research centers, in order to arrange meeting
opportunities for the U.S. company with prestigious
universities such as the University of Tokyo, Kyoto
University, Osaka University and Kyushu University, as
well as with ventures and spinouts in the Kitakyushu,
Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe, and Tokyo/Yokohama areas.
